The Malvern Theatre PlayersThe Malvern Theatre Players are the resident amateur company of the Malvern Festival Theatre, in Malvern, Worcestershire, England
Please note that we are the resident amateur company and not part of the professional theatre management. We therefore cannot answer questions about the Theatre's programme (other than for our own shows). For the theatre's current programme, visit their website: www.malvern-theatres.co.uk
We were formed by the merger of two previous Malvern companies in 1977 and have produced over a hundred shows, from Chekov to Christmas pantomimes. The latter are especially popular, with our production of 'Wind in the Willows', playing to over 15000 people.
As well as plays by established writers, we have also produced new plays written by our own members.
The company has an unusually strong back-stage team, with a wide variety of technical skills. In our own workshops, we construct scenery and props, not only for our own productions, but also for other local amateur societies and the occasional professional touring show.
In 2006, we started converting our workshop at the Grange to serve double duty: for half the year a workshop and the other half a small performing space 'the Couch House Theatre'. More details of the Couch House Theatre can be found here (or click on the link below).
Whilst we do frequent productions with lots of younger actors (look out for audition notices), and hold regular workshops for youngsters in the summer, we don't have regular youth meetings. If you are looking for weekly theatrical sessions for 9 to 18 year olds, look at our links page for possible local solutions.
